TASK 2 (UX)

USER INTERFACE(UI)/GRAPHICAL USER

INTERFACE&USER EXPERIENCE(UX).

Definition:
User interface is a part of the software that a user needs to interact. It allows people to interact with a computer or other application such as phone and video games through a metaphor or direct manipulation of graphical images and widgets in addition of text.

These are the examples of user interfaces:

The image above shows an interface of Windows 8 homepage. It allows you to choose what application you want to go by clicking one of those icons or widgets such as checking E-mail or music player. The design of the layout is very simple and colorful. The concept art is minimalism which is very simple and easy to understand. The font usage is also simple and easy to read.

The image above show two gadgets, a tablet and a smartphone. These two are the new generation of gadgets that allows you to interact without using any key or buttons. The interface is almost the same as computer but they are more easier to use.The user just need to swipe and tap on the screen to browse whatever they want. The layout is very simple, clean but yet attractive.

In making UI design, there are several guidelines to abide in order to achieve a good interactive multimedia. These are the examples of the guidelines:

1.Know your theme.

Before we jump into design,we must know what type of theme that we are making.Let's say if you want to make something for the kids,we must know what catches their eye.For an instance,we use a cartoon character, rainbows, and typeface which imitates crayon or colour pencils. The colour also simple and recognizable like red, blue and yellow.

2.Know your Objective

Knowing what kind of approach is also important in our design.Examples like if we want to lose weight, the objectives are healthy diets and exercise.

3.Know your Goal

The goal is a vision of what you going to achieve when you are doing your objectives.

3.Know your Target Audience

In our design,we must know our targeted audience. If we making an advertisement or public social announcements(PSA) for child abuse,we must know the background of what we are studying like parents, maids step-parents etc.

4.Storyline/Content

we don't do design without a purpose right? The content or story in what we are making must clear in order to achieve a design. If we are making a story,we must have the storyline and if we make an advertisement, the content must be sufficient for user to gain information.

Navigation map and layout design

Our group project is making an interactive infographic poster. The user will provided with several image and text.It allows the user to chose and click the information provided.
When they click on the image,it will pop some information on what they are clicking. Our project is about child abuse so the usage of colours are red which symbolizes warning, white and grey are the contrasts to make the the text readable. The font used is bold and all caps.

Example from article:

SWF files for flash(Button)

I've been taught on how to use Adobe Flash. What I've learnt in Flash are creating
animation and button.First I'm going to show you how to create a button in Flash.

First, open Adobe Flash and create shape.

It doesn't matter what shape you made as long as you follow the right procedure. Then right click and choose convert to symbol or press F8 on your keyboard for shortcut key.

After that, name your symbol (if you want to) and there's a multiple choices of symbol.Choose button and hit okey

After that, double click on your shape that you have converted to symbol. It will bring your symbol to another scene that specified to make buttons. You will notice the timeline has changed.

The timeline has changed into 4 steps.Up,over, down and hit.

up - The appearance of your button when it’s not pressed or rolled over.

Over - The appearance of the button when the mouse pointer rolls over it.
Down - The appearance of the button when it’s clicked and the mouse button is held down.

Hit - Contents aren’t visible, but this state sets the hot spot, or clickable area, of your button.

These are the the steps on how to create a button.Next is image is the outcome of this assignment

SWF file for Flash(animation)

After creating button,I have assigned to do an animation.I will show how it's done and my final outcome. There are several techniques on how to make an animation.First is motion tweening.A motion tween is a feature available in Adobe Flash that allows you to easily animate the motion of an object. Instead of defining the location of the object in every frame, you can create a motion tween, which will automatically move the object from the beginning location to ending location.

First create a shape and then convert to symbol.what we are going to do is moving the shape from point A to point B.

Lastly, press enter and see your object animate or press ctrl+enter to see in SWF format.
